Low-Rent Public Housing
Providing families with affordable, decent, safe and sanitary housing
Walla Walla Housing Authority owns and manages nine neighborhood sites scattered throughout the City of Walla Walla that are federally funded under the Low-Rent Public Housing Program. Neighborhoods consist of townhouses, duplexes, and tri-plexes, ranging from two to five bedrooms. Rent is based on 30% of the family's adjusted monthly income, less applicable allowances. Walla Walla Housing Authority has established a minimum rent of $50, in accordance with HUD regulations.
Low-Rent Public Housing provides affordable housing units to families of very-low to moderate income who might not be able to locate suitable housing in the private rental market. Eligible families are offered a unit according to the necessary bedroom size of the family's composition. The following guideline is used to determine unit size without overcrowding or over-housing:
