Landlord Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits to participating in a rental assistance program?

  • Timely housing assistance payments
  • Regular inspections help maintain property value
  • Advertise your available rental units FREE

If I participate in a rental assistance program, do my legal rights change?
NO. When participating in a federally funded rental assistance program, you are required to abide by and comply with Washington State Landlord-Tenant Law, just the same as you do with non-assisted tenants.

Am I restricted by the amount of security deposit and/or rent I can charge?

Participating in a rental assistance program does not place limits on the amount of security deposit or rent a participating landlord can charge. However, security deposits and rents must be comparable to non-assisted tenants in similar units, in the same area.
