How To Apply for Tenant-Based Rental Assistance

When a completed Application is submitted a receipt is issued, indicating the program(s) applied for and approximate wait time. The applicant's name is placed on the applicable waiting list(s) according to the date and time the Application was received.

Being on a waiting list does not obligate the applicant to anything, nor does it guarantee eligibility to receive assistance from Walla Walla Housing Authority. Being on a waiting list simply means the applicant will be contacted when their name comes up.

Eligibility


During the eligibility screening process, Walla Walla Housing Authority will collect information regarding household composition, income and assets. This information is verified through local agencies, employers, financial institutes, and other applicable entities. Participation in the Tenant-Based Rental Assistance Program is limited to homeless families with children and homeless single-adult women, who are U.S. Citizens and specified categories of non-citizens.

Tenant-Based Rental Assistance vouchers are issued to eligible families according to the necessary bedroom size of the family's composition. The following guideline is used to determine voucher size without overcrowding or over-housing:

Income limits apply and are established by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Current income limits for the Tenant-Based Rental Assistance program are:
